We hired a car from Vancouver and made our way out of the city and into the Rockies. The first place we visited was Lake Louise. Lake Louise was just beautiful, a little alpine town surrounded by snow topped mountains-fabulous!
On our first day we went to Moraine Lake which was stunning. The water was turquoise blue and every view was just amazing. We walked part way around the lake through the trees and saw a few ground squirrels. We also went to Lake Louise (the actual lake) which was also beautiful, we walked up to Fairview Point which gave us an aerial view of the lake. On day 2 in Lake Louise we drove to Yoho National Park. First stop was Takakkaw Falls which were really impressive. There was so much water coming over, you could feel the spray when you were stood at the bottom. From the falls we did a short walk through the park and ate our lunch by the river in a really nice spot, we were the only people there. The park itself was absolutley beautiful, every time you turned around you got another amazing view. After lunch we stopped at a little place called Field which was nice, it reminded us of the Lake District. In the afternoon we went to Emerald Lake which again was beautiful. It was nice because each of the 3 lakes we went to were different and beautiful in different ways. We walked all the way around Emerald Lake which was a nice walk.
On our last day in Lake Louise we drove to Banff which was a really nice town. We had a walk around the town and ate our lunch at Bow Falls which is a nice waterfall just outside the town. While we were there I also went on a 2 hour trail ride which was really good. We rode through Banff National Park, a really lovely place to ride.
Lake Louise was just beautiful, we really loved it, it would definately be a place we would like to re-visit.
