Another bumpy small plane ride brought us back to Waikiki for our last 5 nights in Hawaii, it was good to be back!! The weather is quite different, it is a lot hotter on Oahu than Maui, we got a bit burnt on our first day sunbathing, the sun cream was just dripping off us- gross! The first thing we did was to walk to the top of Diamond Head, which is a huge old volcano crater. Its not a particularly special walk in itself but the views from the top are great, you can see right across Waikiki and the beaches so it was good. We also went to Hanauma Bay which is quite a famous snorkelling beach and a protected park. You have to pay to get onto the beach and they only let a certain amount of people on each day to try and protect the reef. It is really popular, the car park is usually full before lunch time. The bay itself is beautiful and the reef looks amazing from above as you are walking down to the beach. We were a little disappointed with the snorkelling though to be honest, a lot of the reef seems to be dead despite their efforts to save it there are so many people that just stand on it which is such a shame. We did see some cool fish but its not quite as colourful as you think its going to be. This time in Waikiki we hired surf boards, it was loads of fun, pretty cool to be surfing at Waikiki Beach! Phil was the star of the show, he caught a really good wave and had the best ride hes ever had! I was a bit of a let down, my fitness is atrocious and my arms were hurting so bad after about 3 minutes paddling!!!! It was still good though, I did catch a really good wave at one point. Lots of fitness work to be done!! Last thing we did in Waikiki was to go to a Luau!! It has to be done, so we joined all the "tourists" and donned our flower in ear and shell lei and off we went! It was a bit tacky but we enjoyed it, it was good fun. And then it was time to leave...nooooo...we really didn't want to, we both love it here so much. Hawaii is an amazing place, we only saw 2 islands but would love to see the rest, we are already planning our return!!!!

Ishrat Wishing you luck with this. Waikiki needs a non-commercial blog. I regret haivng had to discontinue The Waikiki Wanderer for health reasons. Hope you do well. Don't be afraid to speak out. Complacency is Waikiki's greatest enemy.
