The main thing that happened in Singapore was...we got ill!! Oh and it rained...every day!! Phil got ill and was in bed for a few days and then I got ill and was in bed for a few days, all while Singapore was being hit by a Monsoon!! It wasn't too nice for poor Phil because we were staying in a 16 bed dorm, which isn't the best place to be when you are ill. The dorm looked like a prison, it had a concrete floor and all the beds were lined up perfectly, it wasn't the best. I got lucky (or not) as the day I got ill we were moving into a double room so at least I had some privacy to feel like poo!! We had a close encounter with the wildlife too, a flying cockroach!!!! My goodness, I went to get something out of my bag and these eyes were staring back at me, I nearly died! Phil was downstairs in the common room and I rang him on the mobile to come and help me! He tried to get it into the bin and the thing flew!!! AAARRRGGHHH! It was awful! He did manage to catch it in the end though thank goodness and threw it out of the window, phew!
On the day and a half we managed to leave the hostel we did see a few things in Singapore. We got to Orchard Road which is basically just a shopping street but the Christmas lights were lovely, even in the rain! We also managed to get to Raffles, which also looked lovely in the rain! We tried the famous Singapore Sling in the Long Bar, that was good, the Long Bar is really nice and you have a huge bowl of Monkey Nuts on your table which you eat and throw all the shells on the floor. The Raffles hotel looked very nice and had the most amazing real Christmas tree in the lobby (I've put a picture in the photo album). Singapore goes all out for Christmas, it was very much like London with all the lights and the trees and so many people rushing about doing their Christmas shopping, the shopping centres were so busy.
On our last day we went to a place called Sim Lim Square, it is basically a shopping centre full of electronic shops, its great! We bought an underwater digital camera so look out for some underwater shots coming soon!!!!
