On Sunday 28th June we headed off to Fort William and on the way stopped at Loch Ness. Vivienne and I went down to the waters edge and I placed my hand in the water and I am sure that somethiog brushed up against me! could it have been Nessy I hear you say, who knows?.
The scenery was wonderful and the Loch was sooo big and long, the ideal place for a monster to hide away, at the end of the Loch was Urquart Castle, or what is left of it, so we stopped and had a look around the castle and had a cup of tea in the Cafe and then resumed our trip towards Fort William.
The followind day we dorve up to where the ski lift/gondola's leave from and got some good photos of the Nevis range, Ben Nevis still has snow on top even though it has been "hot" and then to find Neptunes Staircase which is lock system (photo's attached) and we had the chance to see several boats move through whilst we were there, it takes 1 and half hours to get through. We then had lunch at the Moorings Hotel, right next to the Lock system.
The scenery that we have seen travelling to date though Scotland has been nothing less than spectacular and even having seen some of it in movies, pictures and documentaries, nothing can prepare you for the sheer beauty, size and splendour of the Lochs and Highlands, the Castle and stone houses centries old trhat we have seen, it has been just AWESOME.
And the best is that we have not finished yet - woohooo.
