On Tuesday 23rd June we drove from Wooler to Edinburgh past the Angel of the North which welcomes you to Scotland.
Checked into a lovely hotel with not too many stairs this time, walked into Edinburgh CBD which took about 30 minutes. Most of the city centre was under road reconstruction as they are putting in a tram system, which was very disappointing as it was not very photogenic.
Next day we got a bus pass which we could use all day for £3.00 (bargain) and set off for the Castle as it was still early the mist was covering the top of the castle. Got to see the Scottish Crown jewels which was a bit of a mission as the bloody tourists had begun to arrive, we stayed for the 1 O'Clock gun firing and then walked back down the Royal Mile and had lunch in a pub.
Back onto a bus to our accomodation for a well deserved Nana nap then back into Edinburgh for food, the days are even longer here sun comes up around 3am and does not set till 11pm.
We have done the city thing and are looking forward to getting into the highlands of Scotland.
