Day 28. Halfway through our trip. We had a look around Normanton which has some lovely buildings, particularly the lovely railway station. The Gulflander train still runs between Normanton and Croydon and you can take a short two hour scenic trip as well. Then we headed for Karumba and were ensconced at our van site by midday. We bought oysters and prawns for lunch and were dining in style by 1pm. We also booked a charter fishing trip for Monday. Later we visited the junction of the Norman River and the Gulf of Carpentaria and the town of Karumba. We saw some brolgas ambling down a suburban street.
Tonight we shared a fish supper put on by the van park with couples from Bribie Island and Maryville in Victoria, sitting out under the stars.
