Day 38. Leaving Alva Beach as perfect as when we arrived, we headed south for Bowen and Proserpine. The Bruce Hway was not bad and the traffic, including the entire Australian Army, seemed to be going north. Had there been an emergency down south? Anyway, undeterred, we continued south without mishap. We went to Horseshoe Bay at Bowen and then on to Airlie Beach at Proserpine. It is 40 years since we were here. So much suburban development has spoilt the area for us. The actual beach area is a bit like Noosa or Port Douglas, but not quite as nice. Coincidentally, we bumped into Ros and Alex at both spots, although we had no idea of each other's movements until we were to meet up at O'Connell River. Amazing!
The camp spot here is very attractive on the banks of the O'Connell River.
