The Simple Life
REUNITED
We had planned on going out for a meal and a few drinks but with Lyndsay jet lagged from almost 2 days travelling and Lynne with a thumping headache we opted instead for a kebab, chips and a few bottles of wine - yes the girls are still a touch of class! Stories were exchanged; we got drunker, louder, danced, tried on Saturday night outfits, started drinking vodka! It was almost 2am when we eventually gave in and went to bed with the hugging and "love yous" out of the way - yeah we'd missed one another hahhahahahahah!
After weeks of running around Lyndsay required some much-needed relaxation so a chilled day was spent eating and watching DVD's. We wanted to be fresh for Kink that evening anyway. We had several drinks in the house and eventually left for Kink at midnight. Scott has really done well for himself. The venue is brilliant. Front bar, 2 rooms with DJ's and different types of music and an outside courtyard type thing. The club was packed, the music rocking and we were treated like the VIP's we should be - guest list passes, drinks vouchers and entrance to the VIP area, which we only left for bar and toilet visits! Some Irish guys did chat us up but unfortunately their accents were their best feature! If only we'd been able to keep our eyes shut they would have been our perfect men....... We danced our asses off instead and eventually stumbled home to bed at 7am.
The big Sunday plans to hit Bondi Markets and have a Sunday Roast didn't quite happen. We did force ourselves out of bed and into the shower around lunchtime but that slight effort confirmed what we already thought - that our brains were trying to escape and we barely had enough energy to put our PJ's back on let alone venture out for the day. Yip, yet another day watching teary DVD's.
Having heard about the Thursday "free champagne" evening at the Establishment (city bar) we thought it would be a tad rude not to give it a try. After wandering around the city for a bit we eventually found ourselves in a very swanky bar with a slightly older, suited and booted crowd supping on champers (and yes it was free for ladies between 5pm and 8pm - woohoo). We actually felt a bit out of practice in the "after work" crowd but after a few glasses of champagne the fear had turned to merriment. The Aussie men did themselves no favours that night. First of all we had the retarded married man, he could barely string a sentence together (not through drink just cause we was thick!) but still managed to ask if we wanted to go to the upstairs bar with him - only to chat he assured us. Yeah Right!! Then we had Mark. Seemed like a nice enough bloke, but decided once he heard Lyndsay talking that she was to be tarred with the "backpacker" tag and he very wrongly assumed that Lyndsay would be well up for going home with him after 10 minutes of conversation! Don't think so mate!!!!!! He looked so shocked and confused and even had the gall to say "but you're a traveller aren't you?" Oh, sorry I forgot that means I'm meant to have no standards!!! PLEASE! We left there a bit inebriated, hating men and on a mission for food. Just a usual evening for us then!!!!!!!!
Friday was spent at work dying; with the question "how did we do this in London every week?" asked several times. With the arrival of the Skipster in Sydney though there was to be no sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves. A few hair of the dog glasses of wine were drank before we found ourselves in some swanky cocktail bar at the Opera House with Skippy, her new Irish man Dermott and some of her Sydney based friends. Unfortunately at $16 for 2 vodkas we could only afford to stick around for a few before heading home to the comforts of bed and a kebab (yeah we really need to stop that!!!). Plus the place was very posh for us and it was like a scene from Pretty Woman when the lift doors opened and the two of us strolled in! Hhahahahahahhaha!
Saturday the sun was shining and determined to have a more productive weekend we headed for the Opera House and Harbour Bridge with Mark to take some photos. We then had a wander around the Rocks Markets, made a few purchases - presents for other people you'll be surprised to hear - before stopping off at Cargo Bar at Darling Harbour for a late lunch and a few bottles of wine. Lynne's early birthday celebrations were well under way!
Saturday night we met up with "Mr Big" from our Thailand days in YU Club at Kings Cross. As usual we had to take it that one step further and, not content with leaving there at 6am we found ourselves in an after club on Oxford Street till 8:30am. Al was getting up as the two of us and Mark in tow staggered into the house a bit worse for wear. The fact we were meeting Emma in Manly for lunch for her birthday made this one of our better ideas!!!!!!
With barely a few hours sleep we turned up at Manly donning the BIG shades, the shakes and in desperate need of food - NOT alcohol. We forced some fish and chips down and barely managed to drink a glass of wine. Yes, we were that rough although in fur and sequins how bad could we really look? We kid you not!!!!! We're glad we forced ourselves out though and proved we can do it and not waste days in front of the TV and we somehow get the impression that there maybe the odd hangover to contend with at some other point in our travels!!! We did veg out that night in front of the TV watching; yes you guessed it DVD's!
Lynnith was doing her "feeling sorry for herself-Monday morning thing" and didn't make it out the door to work again!!! Bless her though it turned out to be genuine cold-fluish thing and she's still trying to shake it off!!! Lyndsay had started a new job at ING Bank in the city so Emma and Lynne came to meet up for lunch and the '3 Amigos' were back together again! And I'm sure you will be surprised and amazed to hear that not a drop of booze was touched! We think the weekend had been well and truly hammered, even by our standards! Another sad see-ya with the Skip, but she's coming to the UK in May next year so YIPEE!!!
Fairly quiet week ensued but we did venture out on Tuesday evening (Lynne's birthday) to see Bewitched with the lads. We know - we're all as camp as Christmas!!!
Deciding that we wanted to 'broaden our horizons' at the weekend we headed to Bondi in search of some swoony Irish accents!!! Yeah you'd have thought the two of us would've learnt our lessons by now!!! Choosing some FABULASH outfits we preened and posed our way through 4 glasses of wine in the house, taking photos and had the 'supermodel attitude' by the time we hopped in a cab-aree destined for the Tea Gardens at Bondi Junction! Well Hallijuela! This was like no place we'd ever dreamed of!!! Wall to wall Irish men and wait for it - IN WORKIE CLOTHES!!!!! It wouldn't have been out of place to see a hard hat! Well the bar practically stopped when the two of us swanked in in fur, neckties and skinny fit jeans!!!!! Yeah we know you only thought fur and sequins were our Sunday outfits but we feel we can carry them off at any time now hahahahhahaha!
So anyway, we digress...... Within 10 minutes we had been invited to join two lads Liam and blah, blah (yup you guessed it - he wasn't that braw so we never really stopped to listen to his name!). We had a few drinks and even more laughs when Liam decided that he was gonna play Cilla Black for the evening and then proceeded to invite over nearly every guy in the bar for Lyndsay to 'check out'. Irishmen do not know the meaning of the world subtlety!!! They do however know the meaning of the word charm and so he was invited to join us, by Lynnith as we headed for another drinky around Bondi Beach. We went to Ravesis and the Bondi Hotel but both were dire and we were drunk anyway so we all headed home for a dancing session (and a little drunken texting on Lyndsay's part - but with luckily no cringe factor in the morning). The two of us, Liam and our wandering flatmate, Mark all had breakfast and then decided that we were gonna be productive for the day. Irish boy headed off "horse riding" (don't ask!) and the three of us took a stroll into Darling Harbour, went to the Boat Show and Lynne did a spot of shopping. It was el schorchio so we felt the need to grace Cargo Bar with our presence and eat nibbles and drink booze! A very civilised one bottle of wine and one vodka and we headed home around 5pm. Our big plans were put to bed as we were all pretty tired so we headed out for an Italian meal on Crown Street, with Lydia too (one of our other flatmates).
Feeling refreshed the following morning we were up at 8ish and cleaned the house from top to bottom! Caught up on our washing and went food shopping. Please don't bring this up ever to us as we're trying to salvage our reputations as it was a SUNDAY MORNING FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!! We're normally not even home! Al arrived back from his travels around the East Coast - lucky dog, and so it was necessary to celebrate his homecoming with an afternoon session! Had a drink in the Harbour waiting for our ferry and then we headed out to Watson's Bay on the boat. We felt a lot sharper on this ferry ride than we had out to Manly the weekend before.
It was another lovely day and we all decided that we want to own one of the swanky mansions on the water and have boats. We did come up with names for the vessels but this is a family show so we'll decline from telling you what they were! We were hysterical with laughter anyway!!! Somehow we found our way into the first bar and magically a bottle of wine appeared! Then even more strangely it turned into 3 and things were getting a little fuzzy! You'll never believe it but we missed the last ferry home so went to the hotel to book a taxi. On telling us it may be 20 minutes we felt that was time enough to head back to the bar for a cheeky half!!! There was only us plus Al at this point as Mark has sensibly escaped earlier to meet Thomas for dinner. Somewhere between ordering the taxi and ordering another drink the 3 of us became very drunk and felt the need to dance (there were poles involved!) and the bar staff as well as all the clientele (Al liked to call them the audience!) were nearly passing out with laughter! You'll never believe this either but we missed our cab and had to order another one and when it pulled in and the 3 of us rocked up we're sure it was delight on the cabbies face!!! I think it is safe to say that we will NOT be going back to Watson's Bay and we only got 2 photos so you're gonna have to make do folks cause our faces are now on "wanted posters' at all the ferry stops!!!!
As if we've not created enough shame on ourselves we felt the need to abuse the nice taxi man until he found us a song on the radio that we could sing-a-long to! Until he did so we 'amused' him with our Irish impressions and our life stories it would seem. Well he eventually stumbled across Neil Diamond's "Love on the Rocks" and we think you can imagine the scene that ensued! Al actually rolled down his window at the traffic lights, stuck his head out the cab and was singing to the woman in the car next to us! Meanwhile the two of us are "being dramatic" in the back - you know the drill - sweeping arm movements and dying heart gestures! The poor taxi man was killing himself laughing and to be fair took it all in good spirits but was a might relieved when he dropped us off at the bottle shop! The need for more singing, dancing and vodka was in order. Somehow Lyndsay managed to make corned beef hash in the middle of the dancing-round-the-coffee-table-and-singing-escapades but applauso for her!!! The kitchen was not a pretty sight however! By 10pm we had all begun to get "tired and emotional" and bed was the safest option!
This morning (Monday) was becoming a bit like ground hog day but Lynne DID make it to work!!! (Maybe it was waking up to a text from Liam asking her on a date in the week that perked her up?!!?!?!?!!?) Lyndsay dragged her ass out of bed to be at the dentist for 8.10am (she had the day off) only to find that they'd had to cancel it!!! Back to bed for her!
Well folks that's us up to date and I'm sure you'll see that Sydney's been "ok" for us but we've been living quietly as usual - NOT!!! Sorry we've let the website slip recently but we think you'll have had a few laughs this time to make up for it!!! Ciao Sweeties - we're off to be FABULASH some more!
