Hey everyone
Today was Australian Museum day!
We were up and out pretty early to make sure we had the whole day at the museum, and combining our student/youth cards with a voucher, the entry fee wasn't too much. The museum had a special exhibition on, all the way from London in England, called Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The photos were amazing, with everything from an eerie close-up of an eagle looking at the camera, to a photo of a diver metres from a huge whale.
We then went on to learn all about indigenous australians, from their way of life to their treatment by the colonial settlers. Next it was the extinct animals of Australia, including the demon duck of doom and a killer kangaroo. Of course, no natural history museum is complete without a dinosaur exhibition, and we had flashbacks of Jurassic Park when we saw insects trapped in amber...
The skeletons room was next, followed by birds and insects, which Christina ran through after spotting a spider. We didn't spend long in the minerals section, but we spent long enough for Christina to eye up the precious gems and diamonds (her birthday isn't that far away, after all).
After trekking through every single area of the museum, we made it to the exit about mid afternoon. We then went to check out the largest magic shop in Sydney (who's idea was that?) and alex was surprised at how expensive even just the cards were compared to the UK.
On our way back we stopped off at Hyde Park to have a relax in the sun, and as usual, Christina fell asleep minutes after Alex started writing the blog (we hope it isn't the same for those reading the blog).
That was pretty much it for the day, we didn't do anything exciting in the evening as we began to think about jobs and the difficult task of getting them... Xxx
