Amy's travels
sooooooo- today I saw my 14th birth!! This birth was different though as I actually delivered the baby- unaided I might add!! So at about 10.35 - a cute little boy arrived - weighing in at 1.75 kg!! So I caught the head, and then the baby naturally rotates to allow the shoulders to be born- so all worked out very nicely!! Then just before the baby was whisked off I had to cut the cord- unfortunately there was a blood clot-(normal) but the blood shot out and hit the nurse in the face-all very amusing!! Then the placenta became detached from the endometrium and more blood shot out all over the doctor- and then I delivered the placenta- all in one piece, so a very successful delivery!! Then it was off to present the baby to mother and family-the best part!!!
Next it is time for ward rounds- baby number 12's family were so shocked to see a white doctor- in the training that they didnt know whether to take the baby from me - anyway for my follow up check-up of they made a comment that the baby had remained white for a number of days- and are convinced (in a nice way) that because I delivered it I suddenly turned him white- bizarre!!!
Anyways it is time for my afternoon siesta- I dont want to faint again!!
much love xxxx
