So I went to bed last night for about 10 minutes- when I received a phonecall from Dr Seethalashmi! She requested ourt presence for an emergency c-section-all very exciting!! I turned up to surgery in my pj's and medical coat-very professional!! Well to cut a long story short- a humungous baby girl arrived at quarter to one!! She weighed in at 9 pounds!! I presented her to ecstatic granparents!! Today I have been working alongside the doctor assessing the stage of pregnancy- and playing with the foetal heart monitor- a very exciting new piece of equipment to arrive here- so we are all very excited!! You have to use scan jelly and everything-then only a very light pressure -to the bottom of the abdomen-and then all being well you should hear the foetal heart - should be around 138-145- apparently!! This afternoon we are observing a hysterectomy-it should take around an hour and a half- a very short operation in comparison to last weeks 6 and a half!! Will report back shortly!!
