We woke early to drive to Wellington to attended the vineyard there. It proved a little hard to find as Garths phone battery had died but finding its car park took 3 attempts!!
However, once there it felt like home from home. Garth knew a couple called Nick and Rose who used to attend SWLV a few years back and now have two gorg boys called Moses and Isaac. They offered us lunch which we gratefully accepted. Church was ace - a guy lead whilst playing drums, we got given chocolate as we were visitors, there was coffee and donuts in abundance and the talk was great - it was about repenting through the renewing of you mind and how you think.
Nick and Rosei put on a lovely BBQ with an amazing avocado salad (I miss fresh food) with lush tomatoes from their garden. Moses is 3 and Isaac is 1.5 so Lep fits right in between them! I enjoyed playing cars with them for a bit!
Garth and I then went on the team down the hills into Wellington town centre. It was quiet as was a Sunday but the coast was teaming with life - musicians, artists, families and people diving into the water. when not windy it was love and warm, but when the wind blew it was chilly! The section of land we were walking in didn't exist until an earthquake in 1855 (Wellington is right where the Australasian plate meets the Pacific plate) - crazy!!
Wellington is really beautiful, the hills and the sea make for ace views. The house are beautiful white wood dotted between hills covered in trees. The city is clean and stylised with art. I would be happy to live there- defo my fav place in NZ so far!!
Nick and Rose also offered for us to sleep in their living room floor, which was so kind! Kiwis are reaching me how to be hospitable! They also offered us accommodation with her parents on the south island - so so blessed!!!
We arrived back to be fed mince tortillas (yum!) and then Nick took is for a sunset drive in our van while Rose put the boys to bed - after Garth read Moses a bedtime story twice!
We went up to The Ahumairangi Hill where thee were amazing sunset views of Wellington - we even saw the south island! We looked at the half finished, but earthquake proof parliament building and the beehive. Followed by a nice walk in a slightly dark fern park with some beautiful bird songs!
Back at theirs we were fed apple and rhubarb crumble (that Rose made that day) with ice cream before getting done route advice from them before bed.
Sleeping with some space was amazing!!
