We started early (it was raining for the first time since we've been here!) and drive for 1hr to Queenstown where we went to the vineyard. It was tiny (10 of us all together and that was with 3 travelling visitors) and held in the upstairs room of the leading couples house, that looked rather like an old people's home with armchairs dotted about and flowery wall paper. However, we were given a very warm welcome and fed with fruit, sweets and coffee! Everyone was so kind and lovely - I even knew everyone's name by the end lol! The worship was very Pentecostal for a yardy church but the talk was good with lots of Av - even a video of Mike Pilavachi talking about John Mumford...
We chatted for a long time after and I learnt a lot about Singapore from a guy called Gary. Chris (the leader) had a funny philosophy - if there is a problem; Kiwis will try to fix it with what they have in their hands, Americans will throw money at it, and Asians will throw people at it!
We drove off in the rain into town (a very pretty town next to a lake and surrounded by mountains - every house has a view. I even saw a 3 bedroom, super modern cubist house with a huge balcony with a view out over the town, lake and mountains for $545k which is only £300k...it's crazy!!) spent some time at the iSite planning our remaining time in NZ. Due to the weather they weren't operating sky dives today, which I was pretty sad about, but after reviewing our budget (eeek) it was probably for the best :(
At one point a crazy air raid siren went off which made Garth and my heart stop thinking it was an earthquake warning..but it wasn't. Apparently it was just to call the volunteer fire service...
We spent about 2hrs in McDs on the Internet. We booked a hostel near mum and dads hotel in Auckland etc. we drove to our campsite and I had an early night (without sleep due to itching bites) while Garth shared a beer with this south African guy - which is a rare sight in NZ.
Happy St. Patricks day! :)
