Well, what can I say today was interesting a real day of ups and downs emotionally.
Down's: Wales out of RWC
Up's: One of the funniest nights of the trip so far
So, first a bit of background, today we were meant to just chill out a bit and get ready for Xenia's friend Emma's 30th birthday party at a hotel tonight (which I was very kindly allowed to go to) the only problem is, the theme is Op Shop formal (charity shop formal to you and me!) and as didn't have anything to wear - we went shopping.
After trawling a few Charity Shops, we eventually found something that would do well enough, so we went home to get ready before heading over to Emma's house where I met Xenia's friends Emma (of course) and Stu. They were both completely lovely and made me feel very much at home.
From here, Emma's parents picked us up and took us to the hotel to get the finishing touches in place it was at this time that I went to the sports bar in the hotel to watch the Rugby. It was also here that I truly understood how LITTLE people in Victoria seem to not care about the rugby - I was, quite literally, the only one watching it - in a sports bar!?
Happy as I was to be watching the game, it slowly turned sour. I definitely do not agree with a red card that early in the game especially in a Semi Final game, it definitely should have been a yellow I think. Anyway, sour grapes….still, they played brilliantly and although I was disappointed by the circumstances, I think they have been amazing in this tournament.
Feeling a bit gutted I went back upstairs to the main party where everything was in full swing and after calming myself down a bit (good that no-one was interested in it!) I got into the party and had a good time.
Everyone was of course slightly drunk and by the time we all left Emma was, well, ruined. Absolutely ruined and from the moment we got back in the car to go back to hers it was one of the funniest nights I've had in the last few months.
After getting out of the car and promptly falling into the bushes, only to be carried out by Xenia we got into the house and in the blink of an eye her mum had disappeared back into the car. Stu, Xenia and I all found it hysterical as it was a bit of a 'she's all your's' moment!
From there it was just drunken moments, staying up, falling over, feeling sick not feeling sick and conversations spanning the last 6 months of her life - absolutely brilliant fun and definitely one to remember.
Stand out comment of the evening? Comes from Emma, talking about things she has to do on her list of 30 things to do before she turns 30 (too late, but no one's really counting…)
(drunkly across hotel function room) "That's number 16 on my 15 list!!"
Good times.
