Today was a bit of a lazy day, although I did realise that I had left my towel and swimming costume at the Polynesian Spa in Rotorua and after calling them, they said no one had handed it in….GREAT, so some pervert has run off with my swimming costume and towel - how pleasant.
Anyway, the morning was spent not doing a lot until we decided to go to the Auckland Fish Market in the afternoon and get a load of seafood for a bit of a banquet for dinner. It was when this was decided that Chris also thought he would like to cut his hair into a Mullet. Yes, a Mullet, so with my direction and Dale's hair clipping skills, we gave Chris a mullet before going to the food market.
The fish market was great, and we picked up loads of goodies for dinner, mussels, cooked prawns, banana prawns, and salmon steaks. The mussels were a bargain, I think we got about 20 for only $2.60 which was about £1.25 - ridiculously cheap!
Anyway, after getting home we started on the food, the boys prepared the mussels and made some wedges, Jacs started to make salmon kebabs and salad things and I was in charge of the prawns, making a soy and honey marinade for the banana prawns and a mayonnaise, pepper, avocado and cucumber mix for the cooked prawns.
My God it was delicious, Dale cooked it all on the BBQ and we definitely had more than enough food! Triumph of the night was Chris's sauce for the mussels - a white wine, garlic, butter, and parsley concoction that was gorgeous - it definitely made up for his Pumpkin soup at the beginning of the trip which he ruined with too much black pepper right at the last, earning him the title of 'The Ruiner' for the whole trip as he ruined EVERYTHING…
After the food we sat down to watch the second lot of quarter finals between South Africa v Aus and NZ v Argentina. I would have loved Argentina to beat NZ but it was not too be and it looks like we have some pretty tasty Semi Finals on or hands: Wales v France and NZ v Australia!
