Today was a bit of a relaxed day, we got up and bumbled into Auckland for about 10.30/11 am and just wondered about for a bit, looked in some shops (I got my phone sorted) and we went for a coffee before meeting up with Chris, who stayed behind because he had some stuff to sort out with the camper van.
When Chris got there we went to some sports shops to try and get the guys the England Away kit as they all wanted one but no joy as they were sold out everywhere. We then decided to go and get something to eat so went to one of the international food courts, and it was only when we got down into it that Michelle suddenly realised that she and Chris had been there already, about 8 years ago when they were in NZ before - bizarre! We ordered some food - we had no idea which was best so went to the ones that were busiest! - I had Sizzling Beef and vegetables with Rice which was absolutely gorgeous and only about £6 which was even better considering it probably would have fed 2+ people.
I also seriously burnt my tongue. I just want to highlight this. It bloody killed.
As we were leaving I was walking out with Michelle when I tripped up the step in front of me which caused me and Michelle to burst into fits of hysterics - it's never fun tripping up, but when you fall up stairs going out of an under ground food court its even more embarrassing especially as my laugh alone resonates....
Moving swiftly on, the weather wasnt great so we decided to check out Auckland Art Gallery, which was very nice and we saw lots of interesting pieces, one that caught our eye in particular was a picture of a Dolphin and then directly below, a similar one of a Pony, standing in the mud. Both had an information piece next to them but both said they were pictures of Dolphins....but, no no no no, Hans, Hans, Hans,... one was most certainly not a Dolphin, it was a Pony and a muddy one at that. All I could think of to say was ''I want to ride the Muddy Pony'' (yes I do!) Cue hysterics and a new catchphrase for the rest of the trip!
After lots of references to Muddy Ponies throughout the rest of the afternoon, we left the gallery and went in search of Ice Cream - Kapiti Ice Cream - Yummy! We then went to meet Jacqueline as she finished work at 4.30pm and headed home for some dinner and to pack our stuff ready to leave bright and early the next morning for our trip to the Coromandel and Cathedral Cove...
