I'm sure that the moment I add this blog to the site I will be hunted down, questioned, tortured and God knows what else for sharing this TOP SECRET information but sod it I'm feeling lucky - we went to the set of the new Hobbit movie today. Yes, Hobbiton, in all its glory as filming is only a week away. There, I said it - throw away the key.
We took the tour and took lots of pictures although we aren't 'allowed' to post them anywhere because we were made to sign a confidentiality agreement…blah blah…film not released….blah blah….sue you….prosecuted…blah blah… Zzzzzz. It was good though and we good to see the whole set and learnt a few little interesting ditties before watching a Sheep Shearing show (the people that own the land are Sheep Farmers and I'm pretty sure that they insist the sheep shearing bit be included in the tour, because I have no other idea why we were there!
High point for me was when we got to feed and hold some little lambs which were just adorable. I think Darren and I contemplated stealing one…
After that we went to Mt Maunganui and walked along the beach for a bit before watching the rugby game and then getting some fish and chips to go and eat beside the lake. As we were there the sun started to set and it was probably the most gorgeous sky I have ever seen - the sky looked like it was on fire - oranges, reds, yellows and pinks everywhere and so quickly too! I got some great photos which I was really pleased about as I just don't imagine I will see that again for a very long time. I just hope they come out ok…
On the way back we decided to try out a few more car games, one of them being the Animal/Place/Person game, you know, the one where you say something and the next person has to say something else in the same category but beginning with the last letter of the word you said? Yeah, that one.
The Category was animals and the letter was P which kick started a whole new conversation about how you spelt Pterodactyl. Chris (who wasn't playing by the way!) told us all he was sure it was with a P to which he got a bit of a weird look, and then started to doubt himself. We all then started to try to work it out, got bored of that so started to make fun of Chris by putting a 'P' in front of every other word ,Ptomato, or a Papple, Phorse, etc when Michelle faltered on something, but she didn't escape as we all burst out laughing and said were you going to sat Potato!?
A brief pause and then a realisation. Brilliant.
The rest of the journey was filled with someone every now and again projecting in a big booming Brian Blessed-esque voice, 'What about a POTATO'…..
I do love a good car journey.
Oh, and it turns out Chris was right…
