Well it has been two days since Michelle and Darren went home and I can safely say that I have done, not a lot! Chris and I have been into Birkenhead a couple of times but other than that it has all been about, getting clothes washed and things sorted for our trip this week.
We are off in the Camper Van to Taupo for a few days stopping off at a few different places along the way. First up on the list is Waitomo and the Waitomo Caves, to see the Glow worms!
By the time we arrived in Waitomo it was about 2.30pm so we booked straight onto the tour at 3pm. As it turned out, we were the only ones on it, so we got a private tour of the Footwhistle Cave and Rob our tour guide was really good, showed us lots of different things and we ended up being down there for about 15 minutes longer than we should have been - I think he got a bit caught up talking to Chris about rugby whilst I tried to take some pictures in the dark!
After the tour, we jumped straight back in the van and drove on to Taupo. On the way there I booked a cabin at the All Seasons Holiday Park, which was actually very nice and he dumped the stuff there before heading into the centre of town to explore. We knew we were going to have to find somewhere else to stay, as, although nice as it was, the holiday park was about 5 minutes drive out of the centre of town and they didn't have availability for the other two nights we wanted to stay. We spotted a couple of options that looked like they could work and decided to get up early in the morning and try and find something then. Tonight, we just wanted a drink so headed into one of the bars - an Irish bar called Finns - it had a couple of pool tables and looked more Irish than some of the other places we had seen along the way so decided to stay for a drink. I happened to notice that at the top of one of the pillars inside, there were a lot of signposts pointing out the directions and mileage to top cities around the world and I looked around for Cardiff and instead of the distance it just said 'Don't bother' …… HAHAHA very good - I must get a photo of that before we leave.
Drinks finished we headed back to the cabin for a cup of tea and a quiz! No reason to break tradition after all!
