So tonight is the SA v Samoa game which we all have tickets too but this time in two groups of 3 which will be nice for me! J Before that though we have a boat trip organised with Campbell from the Coastguard who very nicely told Dale he would take us all out on his private boat, after we had gone out with him on the Coastguard boat a few weeks ago.
We weren't meant to meet Campbell at the pier until 12pm so we went into Auckland for a bit first as Darren had an appointment with a man about a tattoo.
Turns out, Darrens consultation rolled over into getting it done there and then, so unfortunately he wasn't able to make the boat trip. We left him half way through having the outline done and told him to call when he was done as we might be able to get him out to meet us some how.
The rest of us went to get some bits for lunch and off to meet Dale and Jacqueline at the pier and got ready for the trip (Jacs had spent the morning making the main part of the lunch - roast chicken and salad)
The boat trip was lovely, and it was just really nice to relax - I also was not tempted to jump off the end of the boat into the water, unlike Chris and Michelle who later found out it was bloody freezing! - the views were good too and the time flew by!
One particular aspect of the trip that I enjoyed was that Campbell has some wooden decking on the back of this boat and somebody (I think Chris) made a comment about it being 'very smooth, and somebody sanding it…"
Ha. Ha. Ha…..yes very droll, this joke isn't getting boring at all for me. Not in the slightest. No…
After explaining to Campbell that I had been the victim of mental and emotional abuse over the last few weeks and explaining about the sanding comment, he told us that the decking was actually sanded after it was put in.
HAAA! Suckers!!!!!! Sorry, Campbell, what was that, it was sanded AFTER it was put in, so you mean, somebody took the time to come out and sand it AFTER they put it in? Oh how kind…
I have never felt so SMUG.
After revelling in that glory for a moment, we realised it was nearly 4pm and we had to get going back to the harbour.
On the journey back, I was standing up trying to spot Dolphins as Campbell had said they could be about. Getting nearer into the Harbour it looked like I was going to be disappointed. Nearly admitting defeat everybody told me not to worry and that maybe we would see them another time - agreeing yet disappointedly saying - "but Muddy Pony wants to see the Dolphins (sad face)" I went to sit down when I suddenly caught sight of something in the distance. Of course, because of the timing nobody believed me, but I told them I wasn't joking then spotted it again and there we were, right up alongside a couple of Dolphins!
YYYAAAYYYYY for Muddy Pony! J
Happy as the happiest Muddy Pony you ever did see, we picked Darren up at a spot just around the harbour so that he could come in with us for the last few minutes and he showed off his new tattoo. Very nice indeed but painful looking!
It was turning into a bit of a busy afternoon as we realised we needed to head over to North Shore for the game that evening. Jac and Dale needed to go home for a bit, so Chris, Mish, Darren and I drove into Takapuna for a drink before catching the bus to the ground.
Now the tickets for the game had originally been bought by Chris and Dale, 3 for Chris, Darren and Michelle and 3 for Dale, Jacs and Me, but when we got to the ground we decided to draw tickets to see who would sit with who, then decided not to tell each other which seats we had picked until we got to the stairwells and had to go in opposite directions. All very entertaining for us as you can imagine and even funnier when we split off into our groups and it was Me, Jacs and Dale and Chris, Darren and Michelle….talk about random and fate!?
The game was a good one and funny for us because we had a South African family in front of us who had quite blatantly smuggled in a Vuvuzela (they're banned) but every time the teenage lad tried to do it, her failed miserable, his sister ripped it off him and blew it properly although he ended up ripping it off her again as she was blowing it right in the guy's ear sitting in front of her. This same thing happened AT LEAST 6 times if not more exactly the same until one guy in the row behind us told the boy to give it a rest, he'd been trying all game and obviously couldn't do it. Now, I know its rude, but it was just so funny, and Dale and I couldn't stop laughing, even though we were right behind them. I think we got a couple of dirty looks from the mother, but she was so busy taking photos of herself that I'm not sure she really cared much, about us or the game!
Well that comedy of errors lasted me the whole evening and when I finally went to sleep I was still thinking 'what an idiot'. Brilliant.
