ARGH!! I leave tomorrow for Australia and I can't work out whether I'm excited, upset or a bit of both - I have had such an amazing time, I just can't think of anything that we have or haven't done that I have regretted or haven't enjoyed or wouldn't do again! We have already said that we will be doing it again in 8 year's time when the RWC is on in Japan, so it will be a case of SAVE SAVE SAVE for the next 8 years.
Chris and I went to Takapuna yesterday and just had a little look around and did a bit of shopping, we also met Dale for lunch which was nice.
We are slowing things down now, just taking things easy and getting stuff sorted for leaving, we haven't done too much in the last couple of days which is actually nice - there is still lots to see of course but I'm happy with what we have done and already thinking ahead to getting some energy back ahead of my trip in Australia - that is going to be a really hectic 3 weeks…
After Takapuna yesterday we went home and bought some sausages from the butcher and told Jacqueline that we would cook (technically I said I would cook, and it actually ended up with Chris cooking) and then we would watch Lord of The Rings (Dale hates it but he was at Coastguard so it worked perfectly!) The sausages were lovely, Chris cooked them in stock and we had them with Sweet Potato mash - yum!
Today was my day to do my final bits of souvenir shopping in New Zealand and after a bit of a fiasco trying to find something for a friend that meant going to all 3 RWC stores and ending up back at the beginning everything turned out well! I got the shirt that I wanted AND treated myself to my one big buy which was a souvenir pin collection of all 20 teams in the tournament…(I am just so cool its unbelievable) it will go very nicely in my collection indeed! I 'ummed' and 'ahhhed' over it for ages but as soon as I bought it I knew it was the right decision!
After the shopping we took the ferry over to Devonport and met Jacqueline and Dale for drinks after work before we went for dinner at Lone Star, which is a chain restaurant and bit like Frankie & Bennies and they do Sticky Ribs - now I have to explain, the whole trip, I don't know what it is, but the whole trip I have really really wanted sweet ribs, everything over here tends to be smoked rather than sweet and although I have had a couple of nice ones they have never really hit the spot, but Jacs is confident that Lone Star has sweet ribs, so as it was my last night, we tried our luck there!
Hallelujah! Sweet and Sticky lovely ribs! (Still not as good as Dong Dongs in Oxford but they did the job!) I loved it, and we had a great night before we headed home to finish watching LOTR and to finish my packing for the morning - BOOO!
