Hello.
You get a slightly early update this week, because weºre going away on retreat tomorrow for a few days. Iºm very excited, weºre going back to Savane (we went previously at the end on October) and itºs BEAUTIFUL there, so itºll be a good time away.
This week: On tuesday night we managed to get to the cinema! Which was nice, after waiting around on monday and tuesday afternoon only to be told that we couldnºt go! It was nice to be out in the evening for once.
Wednesday wasnºt very eventful.
Thursday was Pastor Manuelºs. This week we had over 100 kids and struggled to keep them under control and attentive! I think the novelty of the "white girls" is wearing off a little, so they feel more at home to sit and chat or run around instead of paying attention. But it was still a good morning.
Friday was the kidºs club in Manga. Itºs really fun, and itºs great to see Carlito flourishing in his role as their leader with the Oasis training! Seeing things like this, as i might have said last week, makes me really proud to be a part of Oasis. Friday night we went out for a meal, just the three of us because Marina was in South Africa on a training week. It was a good time, and we appreciated eating at a sensible hour, and so having energy for the whole evening rather than eating immediately before bed!
Saturday we taught English. I was expecting about 5 kids (but had prepared for 15 just in case) but apparently word had spread and i had 30! So we had to improvise a little, and they each had half a sheet of animals to colour in! It was quite fun getting them to run round outside pretending to be different animals as i shouted out the names in English! They picked them up pretty quickly though, i was pretty impressed.
Church was fun on Sunday. It was our second to last Sunday at our church - because next weekend weºre going to Gorongossa to visit a sister-church. Jenni preached (in portuguese) and did a very good job. We had sun fun afterwards taking photos of us with our friends (they always get their Bibles out when they have their photos taken, itºs quite amusing). Itºs beginning to sink in now that we donºt have that long left and realistically may not see our friends here again, at least for a very long time.
And then last night we went to Batista Renovada again, which i really enjoyed. The Oasis staff that go there are SO lovely and welcoming, it was lovely chatting with them afterwards.
And that is another week - and thereºs only 3 more to go!
Thanks for all your e-mails..
Lots of love,
Sar xx
