Hello all.
I hope you've had a really great Christmas and New Year. I have, although it didn't feel like either, at all.
Summary: I've had a great holiday. We went to beautiful places and did cool stuff, like scuba diving (which, it turns out, is the coolest thing in the whole of the world), snorkelling, and safari (although we didn't see much) and generally had a good time away.
Not so summary: We had a great holiday. First we went to a place called Tofo, in southern Moz. It was absolutely beautiful, probably the most beautiful beach i've ever been to. We all started the scuba diving course, but Rach decided she didn't want to dive, so me and Jenni finished it by ourselves. We both enjoyed the course so much, not only finding diving the coolest thing ever, but also the people that we met and the atmosphere of the place. That was definately my favourite part of the holiday. We saw rays and a shark and an eel and loads and loads of cool fish - i've definately caught the diving bug!
We spent Christmas in Tofo. It felt so unlike Christmas (being warm and not at home) that i didn't feel homesick! Which was a good thing, i think. For Christmas lunch, i had a sausage sandwich!
After spending six wonderful days in Tofo, we reluctantly left to go to Nelspruit, SA. We went to Kruger for a night, but didn't see many cool animals, so that was a bit of a disappointment for me. But it was lovely just being in South Africa, eating good food and going shopping to buy replacement sunglasses/flipflops etc and getting such essentials as Green and Black's chocolate!
Atfer four days in SA, we returned to Moz to go to Vilankulo for three days. Vilankulo itself isn't quite as beautiful as Tofo, but there are some beautiful islands about an hour off the coast by speedboat, so we went there twice, once to dive and once to snorkel. The place we stayed there was really relaxed, so it was a nice place just to hang out, and we went out for some lovely meals.
It's been the best holiday ever! We worked out that we spent 44 hours of a coach over the 2 1/2 weeks!
We're now back in Beira, where it's a mere 34 degrees, and we're no longer allowed to wear skimpy clothes! But it's nice to be back and see Marina and our family. We go back to Manga on friday. Unfortunatly we found out yesteday that one of the Oasis staff called Mesa, who we'd got really close to, died on Christmas day which has upset us all.
It's great to hear from you, as ever, i hope you're having a great beginning of 2008!
Only ten weeks left!
Lots of love,
