Hello all.
This week has been much more interesting. The best part was probably preaching on sunday (it went pretty well!), and the worst was probnably not a particualr event, but everything beginning to get a little monotonous (but it's ok, cus we're going on holiday on friday!)
Rachel has Salmonela. She never got back to full health after we all were ill a couple of weeks ago,. and then seemed to get worse and loose all her energy - so she went to the doctor's yesterday, and it turns out she has Salmonela. But at least now we know what it is, and she's now on some medication and she should be better in a few days. She went to stay with Marina and Jill from Wed to Friday last week, and i really missed her - so i'm pleased to have her back!
Anyway, other news:
Wednesday morning was fun, we went to Miriam's, who we know from English Church for a sesion on dealing with disappointment, and we did some drawing and arty stuff, which i relly enjoyed! We'r looking forward to going back to hers in January to paint our drawings!
Thursday wasn't particuarly eventful, but i was bored in the evening, so i made masks with Daisy and Yvannia, the little firls at home, which we enjoyed!
Friday we had an English lesson! Which we haven't for a couple of weeks. However, not many people turned up, so we spent half the lesson playing bingo to familiarise them with numbers! And friday evening was rally fun - we went to Carol by Candlelight on the Beach, which was fun, but felt really odd singing carols in such hot weather!
On Saturday we did nativity (well, i say nativity, it was 3 second long (no, seriously!)) dramas with the kids at the kids club, but none of them had ever done dramas before, and most of them didn't know the nativity story. So i'm glad we did it - to teach them that, but it was a bit of a struggle!
Sunday - i preached! In portuguese! I was really pleased, actually, it went really well. I got a good reponse (as well as a lot of Amens in repsonse to my Hallelujah!?s) and the guy translating into Senna (the local dialect) didn't hesitate, so apparently my portuguse was good enough for him, at least, to understand! So i felt quite good about myself on sunday!
Yesterday was the last time we went to manga for the next 3 and a half weeks! We're going on holiday on friday, which i'm really excited about. We're going Scuba Diving and on an overnight Safari in Kruger and Snorkelling and all sorts of exciting things. I'm really looking forward to it.
As a team we've been doing ok - a bit up and down, but generally ok. We're all tired, and looking forward to our break.
Thank you so much for your e-mails (and post, Nem and Beth, that was REALLY exciting), it really cheers me up to hear from you and her news fromm chilly England.
Hope you're all ok,
and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Sar xx
