Hey.
This week has been good, it's hardly rained, so we've managed to get out to Manga. The highlight of the week was Pastor Manuel's - i really enjoy going there :) Our party never happened - i'll explain shortly.
At Pastor Manuel's last thurs, we did the story of Jesus walking on water (or rather, bits of blue material, and a chair for the boat). The kids enjoyed it and enjoyed playing musical statues! I love Pastor Manuel, he's SO lovely and so generous.
Friday afternoon was the kids club, which has just started a new program under Oasis, with training for the leaders and overseers and lots of materials for activities and stuff. It's really great to see that, and to know that it will continue after we've left because we don't have that much to do with it now (just going along and helping out rather than leading anything) and because of the Oasis leadership. I really love seeing the work that Oasis do here and being a part of it.
On Friday night , we tried to make a lemon cake for the party. Twice. Both times, it went wrong. It was a bit of a shame, because i was looking forward to it. And that was only the first bit of part food we never got. Ducha thought that we were going to make spagetti bolognaise for dinner, but we thought that she'd said she would. So that never happened either. And then Sara, an American who used to live with our family was going to make pizza, but she never had time. So all in all, we had no party food. And we were all pretty tired, so we decided to have a normal night and the party closer to when we go!
On saturday, i was teaching English to the adults, we did family members. So i took photos of my grandpa and parents and siblings to make learning the names 'mother' and 'brother' etc more interesting. They liked seeing photos of my family!
On Sunday we went to our family's church rather than our own, which was only 2 hrs (compared to our 3.5 normally!), but rather traditional Anglican, and not as fun African style, so not so much singing and no dancing. So it was good to go there one week, but i like our church in Manga :)
We tried to go to the cinema last night to see Enchanted, but an hour and a quarter after the film was meant to start we were told that there was a problem and it wouldn't show! So we're going back tomorrow instead.
That's pretty much the exciting things that happened this week! I hope you've had a good week.
