Hello all.
This will be quite a short update, as half of this week has been spent lying in bed. We've all been ill.
The best part of the week was on friday night - we went to Matt and Sheena's for the evening to have a Christmas Themed Community Night, which was really fun and the food was sooo good!
The worst part of the week was on friday morning - when i started being ill. I felt aweful during my english lesson, apparently so obviously that they half asked, half told me that i was ill! It wasn't too fun. (I felt better by the evening, so had fun at Matt and Sheena's, i thought it was just a quick thing, as you shall find out later, not so.)
Nothing very notable has really happened except those two things, really. We took part in some of the Kids Club Leaders' Training that the Children's Action part of Oasis have been doing, on wed and thurs last week. It was fun, although when we did dramas about going to the hospital as part of it, they didn't quite get our CPR bit, apparently they haven't really come across that. It made them think we're even more wierd!
In fact i'll tell you about the sections of Oasis. There's Children's Action (which is run by Sheena), this dept. is, as you could imagine focusing on children and stuff that they can do with them. Jill runs Just Education, a department that focuses on schools and particularly corruption in schools, teacher training. An American woman called Jen arrived last week to work in Just Education too. Matt runs Community Action, which focuses on community stuff, rather obviously, including training leaders of community clubs and things like that. Marina runs Church Mobilisation, which trains Pastors and helps churches to see and begin to meet the needs in the community around them. The newest dept (set up a few weeks ago after funding came from America) is Able to Decide, which is run by Manwell, a Mozambiquan. That dept will focus on AIDS/HIV, but i'm not really sure what they're going to be doing yet.
The rest of my news, is that we've been ill. I was ill first, on friday morning, then Rachel woke up in the middle of the night very ill (she has had it worst) on Saturday morning, and Jenni got ill later saturdy morning. We haven't been to Manga since friday, we've mostly been lying in bed and taking it in turns to run to the loo. Nice, hey. Our family have been lovely, but are very concerned that we're only eating a little bread - when mozzies are sick, apparently they eat greasy chicken soup which they tried to feed to us, but we managed to politely refuse!
You'll be pleased to know that we're much better now. We're still very tired and feel quite delicate, but we're feeling much better.
(turns out it wasn't that short, hey)
Love Sar xx
