On Saturday we left Franz Josef and headed to Queenstown, stopping off at Lake Matheson on the way. Lake Matheson is a mirror lake and reflects the Southern Alps so clearly that it is hard to tell where the mountains end and the lake begins. We also visited Lake Wanaka which is another spectacular lake town, full of rich skiiers and snowboarders.
We spent three days in Queenstown altogether. On the first day, I went paragliding from Coronet Peak which is 5,200 ft high. The views up there were amazing and I got to steer the glider and also do some aerobatics which was really fun. In the afternoon I went on a lake cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw which is a steam boat that is nearly 100 years old. That evening Katy and I went out for a meal and had the best pizza of my life followed by a few drinks. The next day we got the gondola to the top of Mount Bob (YAY!!) where this picture is taken from and had a nice walk along the top and watched the bungy jumpers. We then went to Ferg Burger for lunch which is a Queenstown rite of passage and although there was 67 people in the queue in front of us, it was definitely worth it!! In the afternoon we went to Queenstown Gardens and played a game of frisbee golf. On the final day we met up with a friend from uni and went to Milford Sound which was probably the most beautiful place I've ever been to in my life. Milford Sound has complete cloud cover for more than 75% of the time but we were really lucky and managed to get a relatively clear day. That evening we went to a couple of bars to celebrate our final night.
