So elective is finally over and we have officially started travelling! Katy and I spent our final day in Tauranga having a romantic walk along the beach watching the sunset and then stopping at the harbour for fish and chips. The next morning we got an early bus to Taupo, which is a town on the edge of a lake bigger than Singapore (apparently, I'm not sure I believe this!!) We spent the morning exploring the town and stocking up on ski wear for later in the week. I dropped my camera in the lake but somehow managed to rescue it unscathed. After a spot of lunch, we watched some crazy people bungy jump and then had a nice walk along Waikato River to Huka Falls. This morning we managed to get a bit of a lie-in (8am start!) before being picked up for a kayaking trip. The weather was beautiful and we kayaked on the lake for about 4km before reaching a giant Maori carving in a cliff face. In the afternoon the others from Jacaranda House joined us and we had a nice farewell afternoon and dinner together before departing forever!!! Tomorrow we join the Magic Bus and are heading to Waitomo Caves to see some gloworms.
