On Tuesday we left Nelson and headed towards Greymouth, stopping off at Cape Foulwind and the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks on the way. There wasn't much to do in Greymouth so we spent the evening sitting around the fire drinking and chatting to our fellow travellers. The next day we left Greymouth and headed for Franz Josef. On Thursday Katy and I hiked the glacier which was an amazing, but really tiring experience. We spent over 6 hours on the ice and climbed over 400m vertical distance. We both took some really amazing photos and managed to spot a wild Kia bird, although it was very camera shy and unfortunately we couldn't get a picture. Today we are having a lazy day as we both have very sore muscles and are going to the Kiwi Sanctuary and then to the Glacier Hot Pools to relax.
