We picked a route from the road map which indicated that it would be a red route all the way to the campsite, having experienced narrow yellow and white italian roads before. The TomTom then told us it would take 4 hours, and it was correct, the drive was long, hot, narrow and bendy as well as steep. Rebecca was a little sick along the way, (but we were prepared) and we made it to the first campsite, but there was no room at the inn, so to speak (and it also turned out that the Tour of Italy was coming through and the exit would be closed in a couple of days. So we picked another site and drove to that (another 45 minutes) and discovered that there was no room at the inn here either.
Slightly worried we headed into town and almost drove on to the beach and found a campsite with space for us in there car park. As the beach was so close we went down to the beach and David went for a swim. The sea turned out to be warm, and the beach was clean. All in all it turned out that we had got the best campsite in our view, as the station for the trip to the Cinque Terra was only 5 minutes walk away.
