We packed up and headed over to Lake Como as we had heard recommendations about this place, but this recommendations obviously apply to people not in a motorhome. We made a couple of mistakes in planning which did not help the process. When we looked at the map we though we would go up the edge of Lake Maggoire towards the swiss border and then had across to Lake Como. At once it became obvious that this region of Italy did not close down on a Sunday, the roads were packed with cars, motorbikes and cyclists all enjoying the weather. This meant that the going was slow and dull.
We finally reached Como and understood why there was a lack of campsites, steep slopes on each side meant it did not look good for camping and we stopped for a break to the north of Como. By luck this was by the open tourist information office and Rox got some information and we decided to drive up the shoreline to Lenno where a campsite awaited.
At this point the roads got narrower and narrower, and we were pleased to reach the campsite for a good rest. It is not a driving experience for motorhomes in this region, very pretty views through.
