As we leave Portugal today, I can sense that with every step we are getting closer to Italy.
First, the bus to the airport was a few minutes late. Then on arrival at check-in, we are told the flight has been delayed 1 hour. Next, comes the line at the gate. Fortunately we have "Speedy Boarding" an Easy Jet innovation to minimise exposure to the great European crush, although I must say, the lines in Portugal were pleasantly polite, with any queue jumpers given short shift by the locals.
So, back at the gate check in, the line took on an eight abreast formation, but with the continual changing of backpacks from one shoulder to another, and sideways movements to block off those seeking to get in front, we hold our position as number 2 in the line. Well done I say!!
Through the gate and a wait on the apron for the plane to arrive, discharge its passengers and we are loaded and off within 30 mins of its arrival. But going against the trend, the pilot announces that the flight time will be 2 hrs 10 mins, instead of the scheduled 2hrs 30 mins. As I am writing this on the plane, I will hold judgement until we are in the terminal in Milan.
Well the flight was early and we were on the airport transfer shuttle to Milan Central, which is just around the corner from our hotel. 2 hours from Lisbon to Milan by plane, 1 hour from the airport to Milan Crntral by bus, and it was Sunday night, minimal traffic, but here we are, checked in, well fed after a dinner at a very nice Italian restaurant and ready for a good nights sleep.
