Vila do Conde to Pedra Ferrada
Some days lift your spirits and remind you of the pleasures which long distance walking offers.
We left the harbour at Vila do Conde and made our way inland through the outskirts of the town and then into more rural and agricultural landscape.
There are more churches and obvious links with the historic Camino route. People are more likely to encourage you on your way as you cover the miles with your rucksack on your back.
The towns of Los Arcos and Sao Pedro de Rates are charming and full of a quiet association with this route. The signage is good and there is a local pride too.
We book into a tiny albergue (room for six) run by a guy called Antonio who is a Camino aficionado with many souvenirs on the walls of his bar. Tonight we will have a peregrinos meal for €6 and his good company.

Marilyn Lovely scenery to enjoy today
Phil Hi Rich & Margita I have just been able to catch up on your last 5 days and was very pleased to see the sun coming out on the last two. I hope very much it will stay sunny and warm for you both. We had a shock here, the temperature was only 2c yesterday, but the sun is warm. You are both doing extremely well, but perhaps you can give the light industrial areas a miss from now on!!! Love to you both, Phil & Jayne xxx
