India and Nepal 2022
Mealhada to Agueda I thought I would give an idea of what a day on the Camino is like. We were on the road at 8am in the cool morning air and immediately lost the yellow arrow or Camino signs. There is usually a helpful local to point out the route. In this case, into a eucalyptus forest where trees were being felled with chainsaws. We chatted about last night's meal of suckling pig and sparkling red wine which is a delicacy in this area. We walked through woodland and roads until our first stop for a cup of coffee. It's good to break the day of 20-25 kms into chunks and this is always helped by towns which have cafes. Lunch usually consists of a ham and cheese roll and a coke! We constantly check the map as well as compass from time to time to make sure all is in order. But usually the yellow arrows are good enough. Industrial zones, more villages and then the built up area of a new town. The residencial at the top end of town is good and we bump into a couple from Sweden and Finland. Another day on the Camino and I'll do it all again tomorrow!
