Monday - Sunny
We had a fanbloodytastic day today! It was a great bounce back day after how unsuccessful we were yesterday.
After a good sleep in, I tried to make it up to Kim by running a bath for her and setting up the Mac to watch TV. I then stepped out for a bit of brunch shopping. I picked up some omelette making ingredients, baguettes, grapes, some fruit juice, milk, ground coffee beans and Champagne!
After doing all that eating, drinking and watching TV, Kim found an afternoon walk that we could do, while I did the cleaning up and booked a tour of Niaux grotte (cave) for tomorrow.
According to the web the walk would take 4-5hrs, and we didn't know what time we would get back, and didn't know if any shops would be open. So we got dressed and went back to the store and picked up some tagliatelle pasta, the pasta sauces, some french sausages and more wine.
After bringing the food home, we drove 30mins up some very windy roads, through the mountains to the starting point of our walk. We passed two or three skiing areas too, they looked like pretty advance runs, they were very steep that's for sure.
The walk was very good, it felt great to be walking again, we crushed the tracks! The trail lead us up to a 2800m summit and we even passed some snow! There were great clear views, we were surrounded by mountains and below us were some huge pristine looking lakes. We hung around up there for awhile taking in the views and some pictures.
It was getting late on the afternoon and we cut probably 1-2hrs off the walk. There were two tracks heading down the mountain, one headed down to the lakes. The other track we took, and it was a similar track to that we took up.
We got back down to the car in just under 3hrs return and then headed back down the mountain through the valleys to our flat.
We got back home and opened another bottle of champagne, while kim did some trip planning, I prepared and cooked dinner. This champagne we picked up from the smallest champagne house in Epernay is probably my favorite. Unfortunately it's not sold in Australia yet.
We took a break from drinking and eating and went for a night walk around town. We went to the out door public thermal pools to soak our feet for awhile. The water coming into the pool is suppose to be 77°C, but It wasn't very hot where we got to sit, everyone was bunched in tight around where the hot spring water comes into the pool. It felt really good!
After the soak we went back to the flat and finished off the pasta and champagne while watching a movie.
