One word to describe my third day here, EPIC!
Started the morning with a run. Was gorgeous scenery, got to play with some puppies and just enjoy the run. Realized I'd locked myself out of Jen's house so filled time in the front yard with other exercise until I saw Dessa and got hold of a spare key, thanks Dessa!!!
Jen and I then headed into London for a day of sight seeing. London is freaking ridiculously amazing. I didn't know where to look half the time because there was historical buildings, gorgeous gardens, statues, bridges and everything else in between. We were traveling on a hop on hop off your bus to get us around. Had one hilarious driver who was tapping into his inner Elton John, rather amusing!
I went to the steps of St Paul's with "feed the birds" running through my head. The building is just stunning! We then went for a drive over the London Tower Bridge and took a stroll around London Tower before stopping at Dickens Inn for lunch. Oh and I hit the jackpot finding a post box and telephone box TOGETHER!
After lunch we headed over to catch the ferry and go for a cruise along the River Thames. We didn't make the cut for the first ferry and had to wait another 18 minutes for the next, which was a blessing in disguise! Whilst we were waiting a cruise ship came through and the London Tower Bridge opened up to let it through. So lucky to have seen that, it apparently doesn't happen very often at all. In fact it was the first time Jen had seen it too!
The cruise along the river was a great opportunity to snap away with the camera, and to sit for a bit. We got off at the London Eye and had a perfect view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. We strolled along the Westminster Bridge and checked out a little place called Westminster Abbey. No big deal, just the place where William and Kate got married!!!!! I've seen it on TV and in magazines and it just blew me away in real life.
We then walked by the Prime Ministers crib. Some brilliant memorials from WWII along that walk! Then we went to the Horse guards parade and I got some pics of some very young soldiers struggling in the heat of their uniforms but doing a great job. Then we walked down the Mall. St James' Park is great. So much grass and gorgeous gardens and they put out beach chairs for anyone to chill out on. We then watched the guards at Clarence House before making our way to Buckingham Palace. I was so excited I was nearly in tears!!!! It is gorgeous.
By this time we had to get a wriggle on to make the theatre. We got on the tube To Piccadilly Circus to the West End theatre district. We rocked up to the Piccadilly Theatre to pick up our tickets and the lady passes them over and tells us we've been upgraded to the stall area, at no charge. Feeling pretty chuffed with that we head out and are stopped by an usher asking if we would like to partake in the VIP theatre experience, which we of course said yes to. They took us down the stairs to the "tunnel of love" where we were served prosecco and given nibbles at our private table. Then when it was time for the show we were escorted to our seats. The usher thought our seats were too far away, made a call on his radio and we were again upgraded for free. At intermission, the usher meets us and we head back to our private table which is ready with more bubbles and snacks. We saw Dirty Dancing and it was brilliant. The Penny character had the worlds longest legs that had to have been made of rubber, she was Ah Maze Ing!!!
We head home after this and I am gob smacked at how packed the tube is at 10:30 at night on a Wednesday. We seriously could not move! Crazy!
I am sure I will have missed something because it was the most epic of days. Loved it!!!!!
Oh and I also met me a Bobby who compared tatts with me and chatted about the rugby. Probably the only South African police officer in London!!

Lisa London is the best! So glad you loved it! It's just amazing! I remember crying in Piccadilly at night, crossing the road, as I was so overwhelmed that I was finally there! Can't wait to be back there next Christmas with the kids! Love reading your adventures Pennie!
