Day two was a lovely relaxing day. After a much needed sleep, I was up and ready to go. Jen took me to a stunning Waffle House in an old Roman village area. The scenery there was just gorgeous. We sat by the waters edge and had the most scrumptious breaky. I had waffles with bacon, banana and tomato covered in mayple syrup. OMG yum!
We then went to do some grocery shopping and I found all sorts of "different" things to take home for Aron and the kids to try. Really looking forward to trying the Malteser flavoured hot chocolate!
In the afternoon I headed back into town and did some exercise in the gorgeous gardens before heading to the travel agent to book my Amsterdam trip.
I sat in a lovely little cafe and chatted with some random dude who gave me all sorts if tips on what to do while I'm in Amsterdam. Then Jen and I went for a little walk around St Albans. Still blown away by how pretty everything is. Watched Jen chat with a big fat, and extremely dirty, pig and came home for a lovely home cooked meal.
Tonight Jen and I will be joined by a couple of her friends from down the road to watch the Great British Bake Off, whilst drinking wine and possibly having 'crisp brulet'. A rather random dish that involves putting several ghastly flavoured 'crisp' (chip) packets into a bowl and crossing your fingers when you go to take a crisp that the one you pick isn't a terrible one. Then there's the "s*** stack". This involves the taking of one of each flavour crisp, piling them up and eating as one fowl tasting treat. This delightful practice should only ever be done with a nice glass of wine at the ready to wash it down. A new party game for all!!!
Another brilliant day,but very excited about tomorrow!!!!
