My first day here and I was on a buzz, even after 24 hours with no sleep. I met my beautiful sisters' husband, Mike, and her son, Jack, finally!!!!
Jen and I took a walk into the town, which was just gorgeous. The streets are so beautiful. So clean, tidy and just gorgeous. Holly bushes growing as hedges, lots of old fashioned post boxes and the history, OMG!
We went to the St Albans Cathedral, aw inspiring in itself, but on show there was one of only four remaining magma carta!!! A script aging over 800 years written on a sheep skin. It is written in shortened Latin and is the result of a meeting that took place right at the St Albans Cathedral. The cathedral itself is massive. The architecture and fine features are just unbelievable. I found my jaw dropping continuously as I walked around. Was wonderful to also see the colours and banners displayed.
Our walking tour also included a few pubs... And the beginning of the "cock" tour. We had lunch at The Fighting Cock, where we also polished off a bottle of Chilean wine then stopped at the Mermaid Hotel for a drink on the stroll home.
The gardens were gorgeous and the weather was absolutely lovely! Perfect first day!
