I began this morning with a run through St Albans, gorgeous yet again. Did stop to get a pic of the houses with their milk bottle deliveries at the door, classic! I got back to Jen's and did a workout in the yard then got ready for the day. Mike was the first to appear for the morning and he offered to make me a cup of tea. We chatted a little and I took a sip if the tea he had made me. It took everything I had not to spit it out. It would appear that Mike does think I'm sweet enough and don't need sugar in my tea, instead salt was the order of the day. I wasn't sure if I should say anything so I waited until Mike went upstairs and Jen had a taste. Freaking hilarious seeing her reaction. The cat is out of the bag!
After a yummy lunch together, Jen, Jack, Jas and I made our way into London. We decided to get off at an early station and walk across the Millennium Bridge. Along the walk, Jas was lucky enough to catch a pigeon poop in her hair. Was quite a good catch! After the laughter had ended and poor Jas was cleaned up we continued along towards South Bank.
South Bank has a Community theme going on at the moment and it was a great atmosphere walking along the edge of the river Thames. There was a huge sandpit full of kids playing, and one or two fighting, a skate park, restaurants and loads of little green house like garden beds. The walkways were dotted with different street performers and food carts. Loads of people!
We went into the National Theatre and found in the ballroom a band playing and hundreds of people dancing. There was a rock and roll/ jive playing then it slowed down to waltz. It was awesome seeing soooo many people dancing, and kind of made me miss my dancing days. It was really cool.
After a quick dinner at one of the hamburger street stalls we headed to the Globe. The Globe is the recreation of Shakespeare's theatre. It was spectacular. I probably can't describe it well enough to do it any justice so make sure you check my photos. We were seated in a "gentleman's" booth overlooking the stage. The play was called Bluestockings and was the story of women attending Cambridge University and fighting for the right to graduate. The play was written well with enough wit, history and scholarly information about astronomy, physics and psychology.
Considering the restrictions of the stage, the scene changes were quite swift and didn't detract, but rather took you along for the ride. It was a brilliant play in an amazing theatre. It was really an amazing place to be. I consider myself pretty lucky to have been there.
We catch the train home along with a myriad of delightful young drunkards, one of whom has to be taken off the train by her friends to throw up. Jas and Jen watch the ordeal and are given a double bird as the trashy little thing successfully hurls her guts up. Now we are only left with turd with the horn and the moth that scares both Jen and Jas. the moth lands right by us so I grab and ditch it out the window, whilst letting them know about the massive moths we get back home. They're such chickens!!!!!
