Mexico! - In San Diego I met a German guy called Leo, who also was going down to Mexico, but on his Motorbike. He told me that he had a flyer for a hostel in Mexico about 5 hours south of the boarder; so we agreed to meet there the following day. He was having problems getting clearance to take his bike across the border, (it was a German bike) so the fisrt day, I knew I would be there on my own. So from San Dieago I caught the trolly to the border (about 10 minutes), then by foot you cross a long bridge over the border into Tijuana. I wasn't too sure if I had made Mexico, becasue the border guards are sort of non-existant. I found the Imigration desk, and payed $22 for a 3 month visa. So then (with back pack) I had to get across to the ABC bus company. From there I took a bus to Ensenada, and from there another bus to San Vicente. However the instuctions to the hostel told me to stop the bus early (in the middle of the desert), and hitch hike the last 12 miles! Being a chicken (and not knowing how to stop the bus) I carried onto San Vicente. At this point I was definately in Mexico, and papping my pants! I needed a smoke! Luckily the guy in the shop spoke English and pointed me to the only taxi in the town. So for another $300 Pasos I caught the cab to the hostel. Phew! The coast along Baja California was amazing, most of it still in a natural state, with huge dry red/brown mountains in the back ground. A real stunner!
