Long Way To NZ
Gibraltar: 26th - 27th March 2006
No better place to recover from the culture shock of Morocco! Apart from the fact that it is a huge rock in the sea, it is really just like the UK. The first thing I did on entering Gibraltar was head to the pub for a pint (alcohol is practically non existant in Morocco) and a roast beef lunch.
I took the cable car to the top of the upper rock where the views of Gibraltar and South Spain are incredible. But the best part was obviously the monkeys. 250 of them apparently roaming on the upper rock at the moment. Clever little b*****s. One jumped straight on my back and unzipped my bag looking for food. He obviously got away with nothing due to my lightning reactions. But everyone else just kept commenting on how cute they are.
Otherwise as I said Gibraltar is just like any other town in the UK. We were staying in a hostel in La Linea just over the border in Spain. It is quite odd how a typically Spanish area changes into a typically British area by just walking through one gate.
