Long Way To NZ
Three nights spent in the capital, Ljubljana - in a hostel that is a converted prison. It is so cool, with bars still on the doors and windows.
Strange fashion sense was what I first noticed! There were gothic looking girls with jet black hair, black lipstick complete with leather boots - but just to be different PINK skirts!! WTF
The city is small but really nice - so clean! There is a castle over looking the city with a tower that obviously had to be climbed to the top. We rented bikes the first day to get the chance to get around all the parks on the outskirts of the city - got lost but hey wheres the fun in knowing where you are going.
Postojna caves are just half an hour by train out of the city and although busy are incredible. Odd fact - these caves had electricity before Llubljana! Stalagmites and stalagtites - remember tights fall down and mights crawl up.
Our last night in Slovenia was a trip to Lake Beld in the north of the country - recommended by all who had already been there. We spent the day walking around the lake that has a castle on an island in the centre. Torrential rain hit us but it was a great day.
Left Slovenia on 17th April and Croatia was the next destination.
