Long Way To NZ
First impressions of Budapest were not brilliant - but that is because of our accomodation problems. We had booked 3 nights at All Season Stay hostel and arrived there at 10.30pm but there was absolutely no-one there. We ended up walking around the city with no luck at finding any hostels so it was another night in an expensive hotel. We found out that the hostel is sistered with Yellow Submarine and we actually had to check in there. No-one told us this - I suppose we should have known to check in 20minutes down the road!! We found ourselves a better place - Katrina Hostel in the end.
Two parts to Budapest - Buda and Pest. Buda being the historical part with most of the sights and Pest being the commercial area. The city is massive. From Buda you can look over the whole of the city and there are buildings for as far as the eye can see. For the first time the amount of walking we did began to seriously tire me out - I thought this trip would make me fitter!
The castle area on the Buda side is amazing - although not really a castle, more of a cathedral with a wall. Us being idiots took quite a while to realise this so we kept searching for a castle.
Night life is pretty good - there are streets lined with tables and umbrellas which pack out every evening. Beware of certain waiters though. They are miserable a*******s and still demand a tip!
We left for Bratislava, Slovakia on 24th April.
