Arriving into queenstown the view was breathtaking. The remarkables towering over Lake Wakatipu with the small city of queenstown nestled on the edge of the two was a picture perfect setting. Giving the decision of the hostel to Claude he decided to stay in alpine lodge due to the free wifi. It was small and cosy with the little apartment like feature up top. After being in there for an hour the hostel worker persuaded us into jumping out of plane and we had no choice but to say book it for the next day due to the cloudless conditions the day after. Idiots! Pumped up from the fact we gonna do something stupid but amazing the day after we thought the only way to prepare for that is to meet some guys and get drunk. Partaking in a lot of drinking games with Dennis, Michael, Peter and Claude and singing some gay songs the night passed us by in buffalo and we were ready for the skydive! Waking up feeling quite ropey we headed off to sign our lives into the hands of skydiving strangers. The perfect weather, crisp in temperature and not a cloud in the sky we got out gear on, did our camera lines and poses and jumped straight onto the plane. Climbing 12,000ftthe door next to me is whipped open, nodding to Ian who is jumping after me, and within 2 seconds I'm Siitting on the edge of a plane looking at some of the most beautiful view I'll ever see. 2 rocks and out we fall. Was the best thing I think I've ever done and it's all on DVD. Seeing Ian land right after me we celebrated and walked away wanting to sneak right back on the plane and do it again right away. After the adrenaline pump from that we just hung out at the hostel and had an early night. Our third day in queenstown was relaxing. Taking in all the local area in the day and doing a mountain hike up the sky gondola in the evening (which was not easy as most locals described it) for the beautiful views of queenstown for the sun set and then sneaking on the gondola for the way down. Screw walking back down that bloody mountain. A lot of money was spent in queenstown so the day after we drive to kinloch, a very very remote place with a couple houses and a hostel at the tip of Lake Wakatipu. Great small hostel was relaxing with mystical views of the lake. The day after we wanted to do the routeburn track but vein winter a lot of it was closed so we did a 5 hour hike on an empty stomach (probably the hardest and most stupid thing I've ever done) to see some of the most amazing natural beauty the country has to offer. Enchanting forestry, crystal clear streams and rapids, gasping views of some huge valleys all leading to 'Stunning' views of the routeburn falls. Finally making it back to the car, the packet of cherries sweets that my mum packed in my bag, which at the time I was telling her 'why would I need cherries with me?', was actually our saviour and probably at the time was the most amazing thing I've ever eaten. Thanks mum :) Driving back straight to queenstown food was necessary so had to of course go to macdonalds. Finding the bungee backpackers hostel we decided to book ourselves in for 5 nights and just relax in queenstown. The day after was Ckaude's last day so said farewell to him with a lot of beers and some pool and topped it off with the 'ferg burger'. Saying bye to Claude we dropped him to the airport the next day and emotionally decided to look for a new compadre. Still looking for a New tyre after demolishing one already we went looking which ended in Ian reversing into a garages wall leaving a whole in it. Quickly leaving the scene we decided to hang out in the hostel (not hide out). The next few days there just involved watching the euros football as much as we could and enjoying a few drunken nights out, watching the Southern stampede in a non violent ice hockey mach, hustling pool for a lot of beer and acquiring hats. It's all quite a blur really. Needing to leave queenstown due to a lot of money being spent there we said our goodbyes promising we would try come back if we got jobs so off we went.
