After a ridiculously long 30 hour journey , feeling jet lagged and hungover like, it was all worth it to see THAT picture. I've never seen anything like that ever. as usual me and Ian were unprepared and instead of organising the cheap shuttle to the hostel we had to settle for the expensive cab journey. We were greeted by Ray who was very friendly giving us advice and a tour on the way. Showing us the broken buildings and the uneven roads, all a result of the earthquake. Blaming the British for the awful design of building next to the river on the weak foundations he got us to Haka Lodge. An awesome relaxing hostel it seems like but all we wanted to do first was sleep and that's exactly what we did. . . . For 13 hours! Spent a lot of time walking around, moved to dorset hostel which was more in town for a few days. Had breakfast opposite where we met David and his wife while scoffing down our food who helped us locate a place that sells vans. Thanking them we left taking the mic out of their accents only to realise he followed us out the cafe to offer us a lift while his wife finished her breakfast. Showing us round Christchurch first in his grandsons car he took us there where we finalised a deal for a van but later had to turn it down as Percy came Into our lives thanks to Gary. Handshake was done and we had the car from Monday so we saw the rest of the sights and the poor red zone and left Christchurch to do some snowboarding to Mt Hutt :)
