Te Anau was our next stop, just a couple hours drive south of Queenstown. Arriving there the first thing we saw was the amazing Lake Te Anau, the second biggest lake in New Zealand with waters as clear as can be. After having a little look at that we decided to find a hostel which lead us to Bob and Maxine's, probably my favourite hostel yet. We were greeted by Maxine who we couldn't really understand and shown around by Bob who was unbelievably friendly. Calling me Neo he left us to man the fire and settle In. Our first night we just had a sneaky look to what Te Anau had to offer, which wasn't much but it was very relaxing and then hanging with Steve from San Fransicsco and Alena from Germany. The second day was supposed to be the day we drove to Milford sound, the main reason we came here, but the snowy conditions meant that Percy couldn't drive up there which meant that another day of relaxing by the fire with Alaina and Steve while the skies were falling down outside, watching the Fiordland movie in the cinema and making some lovely food. The evening brought maybe our two favourite people we met to us; Catlin and Jen, the super duper accent loving gals from the states. Mixing a little bit of opera with dubstep and trying to learn wonderwall on the guitar was how the evening went. The roads were open to Milford sounds the next morning and the girls were doing the same thing so we decided to head up together but not in Percy :( but in their version of it, Tangaroa. Driving through the amazing northern Fiordland wilderness was amazing finally arriving at Milford and just making it on the last cruise of the day by about 10 seconds. It was meant to be! Probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Cliffs and mountains standing high, looking as is they had been shot out of the water, crystal clear waterfall which could be traced all the way up the mountain to its origin, seal colonies hanging out on their shaded spot and all topped off by the beautiful sun begging to set for the day. Being Neil and Ian no preparation was made but the girls saved us from starvation with some lovely soup cooked in the 2nd best van in the country. The evening was spent drinking and taking the piss out of each others accents. LITERALLY a great day. The next day was leaving time :( we said our goodbyes to Bob and Maxine, did our bye photos and parted
With the girls who tried to convince us to meet them at fox glacier but we were
adamant to go see the rest of the south so off we went
