Today we spent most of the day at the Palace of Versailles. Again the crowds were plentiful but well managed so it didn't seem too bad.
The Palace if vast with some 700 rooms, 67 staircases and 50 fountains. An audio guide was included in the entry fee which kept the crowds moving and also gave us access to a number of areas we had not seen before. After touring the palace we decided to have lunch there so we found the restaurant and, although not amazingly splendid as other parts, it did feel a bit like "upstairs downstairs" in that the waiters all came and went with a suitable air of servitude. After lunch we spent some time wandering the vast Palace gardens and then headed back to Paris.
Later in the afternoon we went back to Musee d'Orsay for dinner in their amazing dining room full of chandeliers and gold. I have included some photos of the room and the food especially for my niece Olivia as I know she would have loved the whole experience.
Another day beckons tomorrow full of new delights and lots more queuing I expect.
