Altitude: 2840m
We were a bit late getting to Kathmandu airport so we had to queue jump at the airport but we managed to just make our flight.
We got on a small Twin Otter propellor plane that seats about 20 people and took our 35 min flight towards Lukla.
As we approached, it was amazing to see the Himalayas from the plane as we weren't looking down at the mountains but across at them.
Then the scary part was the landing at Lukla airport which is little more than a plateau on the side of a mountain!
We had a quick bite to eat and started nice and early around 7:30am. The trek path has been pretty good so far but it is all rocks so it's easy to twist an ankle. The path is the only mode of transport between the little Sherpa villages so regular encounters with yaks and villagers carrying goods to trade is common. Before I came on the trek i thought it would be all uphill on the way to Everest but as we are walking up mountains and down the valleys It's alot of up and down, up and down. The hills are killer and the altitude is definitely affecting me already. Any time we are going up hill I'm breathing twice as fast as I normally would almost completely out of breath. It's clear I should have done more training but that's hindsight!
The weather is great today between about 10-25C but it's the evening now and it's clouded over and is starting to get cold.
We've stopped at 2850m at a village called Manjo for the night and I am going to sleep like a log!
