Arrived in Kathmandu this afternoon. First impressions are that it looks and feels fairly similar to India - except way cleaner and less chaotic.
Checked into the Shangri-la hotel but although I'm sure it's luxury for these parts it's not quite the Shangri-la experience I was hoping for!
Owen my trekking buddy arrived a few hours after me and we loaded up on an all you can eat buffet stocking up on carbs and calories. Two heaping plate-fulls thank you very much!
We've just been preparing and sorting out our main equipment bag and our backpack for tomorrow. We catch a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla at 7am do we be on the mountain and trekking by about 9am.
We've got a 7-hour hike tomorrow so we'll be hitting it hard right from the start.
By the way I've found out there is only internet at one stop along our journey and I'm not getting a mobile phone connection so not sure how frequent the updates will be from here...

Priya Quite impressed with the regular blog updates thus far. Even though Shangri-la wasn't what you expected, hope the first hike is better than you expected it to be :) PS: If there's an indian Hollywood ie. Bollywood, you think they'd give up a chance to have an indian BigMac ie. Maharaja Mac???! They can't help it - its an old habit :P
