Today we continued our descent from Pangbouche on our way to Namche Bazaar. For the first time in the trip it started out cloudy and I was worried it would rain. Luckily it was just an early morning our that burned off by about 10am. We had a lot of ground to cover but luckily most of it was either flat or downhill. That's not to day that the 30% that was uphill was easy because it wasn't. In fact it was really tough. I'm surprised it was so tough really because we are on day 12 of our trek so I should be as fit as I am going to get, plus the fact that we are going down in altitude and there is relativlely speaking quite a bit more oxygen in the air. The only reasoning for it I can think of is that we are moving faster now than we were at other parts of our trek.
Today we passed the tree line. So we now get the forest as scenery rather than just barren rock.
The trek is winding down now so I am starting to reflect on it now. It was certainly a once in a lifetime experience and I have lots of great but cold memories!
But it ain't over yet. We've got a gruelling 9-hour trek ahead of us tomorrow from Namche Bazaar to Lukla where our trek ends.
Hopefully Owen an I can pull off one more day without any injury and make it safely to Lukla.
By the way it's still damn cold here in Namche at 3400m. I can't wait to feel the heat in Kathmandu. Bring it on!!
