Day 77: 18/3/13
Today was back to work again- 1 day weekends are not good! At work we were told that we had a knock off target and once we got it we could go home. It was higher than Saturdays and the main sales person, Matty, wasn't in. Two of the girls that left sick last week were supposed to come back today but they rang over the weekend to say they were quitting. So we had to get a target bigger than 10 with just 5 people, 2 of whom are new so that wasn't very fair!
It was kinda cold today and was threatening to rain all day, but thankfully it didn't. Walking around is bad enough without being soaked! Noone came with me today either. I don't think anyone is going to walk with me anyway so I just have to get used to it! The streets I was given had fairly new houses, which probably meant new families, which meant noone was home. I knocked so many doors and noone was home. One street wasn't fully marked on my sheet but I had all the walk sheets for it, but them Chloe and Doug appeared because I was on Chloe's turf. They gave me other streets but they had no walk sheets which is a pain because you have to mark off where you've been.
I got a few bills today, but mostly from people who were already with energy Australia and wanted to check of they were on the cheapest rate and they were! Lots of people just kept saying they weren't interested!
Eventually around 5 in the evening, I got one signed up. He was a really nice lad- chatting away to me about Paddys day and Ireland and stuff. He was happy to change over as soon as he saw the rates. It was a fairly easy sell. He was fairly good looking too and answered the door with no top on, so I can't complain! He was chatting to me for a while and warning me to be safe, look after myself and enjoy my time in Australia!! By the way, answering the door with hardly anything on is fairly normal- at least this lad had trousers on! I met another really nice guy a few minutes after that with his partner. He had an Irish name so was all friendly when he heard the accent but they were already with energy Australia so I couldn't sell them anything!
I knocked some more doors after that but gave up about ten past six. So I finished on 1 again. Sherry got one and Chloe got one. Malou and Kevin got none so the team finished on 3- fairly pathetic! Chloe at least, should be able to get a lot more of there is any hope of us getting sales!
I had two places to view today. The first was about a 15min walk from Melbourne central. It seemed to be mostly students. There were 12 people in the house and it was fairly old and dingy. I would look past that if it was nearer the train station, but the walk wasn't too safe feeling so I won't be taking that! The other one was in Southbank. That was 7 people in a 3 bedroom flat with a lot of Germans who like to smoke and party. I couldn't see myself living there but they are supposed to text anyway if I have it.
I grabbed some Mc Donald's then as it was after 10 and I hadn't eaten since 11am lunch. The place was full of homeless people for some reason. I got the train back anyway no problem. I'm lucky Laura lives right near the station.
It was after 11 when I got back. Nanas DVD had arrived today. I was choking back the tears just looking at the cover, so I won't be watching it tonight. If I'm home earlier tomorrow I might watch it. Ill prob end up viewing some other places if people get back to me.
I had gotten lost a few times trying to find the accommodation this evening. There was a moth in my room when I was getting ready for bed. I attempted to kill him and he fell but I couldn't find him. So he could be anywhere. It just felt like one of those evenings where everything went arseways!
